Epiphany Gift to the Child Jesus

My Gift to the Child Jesus this year will be:

Feast of the Epiphany

‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did

for one of the least of mine, you did for me.’ (Matthew  25:40)

When we celebrated the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe the Sunday after Thanksgiving, Jesus gave us the pattern of how we are going to be judged.  Those who fed the hungry, gave water to the thirsty, clothed the naked, welcomed strangers and visited the sick and imprisoned, were invited into to the heavenly kingdom because ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did

for one of the least brother and sister of mine, you did for me.’ (Matthew  25:40) When we serve the most vulnerable in our community, we are serving Jesus, Himself.

This Advent and Christmas season, I asked the parish to reflect on how we are serving the least of the brothers and sisters of Jesus.  How are you inviting the poor, the stranger, the vulnerable into your family and into your lives? On December 17, we heard a presentation from DC127 on how we can help families in need.  More than a dozen people expressed interest in help needy families.  We can use more volunteers.

St. Jerome also needs people who are willing to serve at the Cafe on Thursday, to care for the Homeless during Safe Haven in February, to visit the sick in their homes and in institutions, especially Prince George’s Community Hospital, and to serve the community in other ways.

To celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany on January 7, I will ask you to make a gift   to the Christ Child.  The Magi brought Jesus gold, frankincense and myrrh.  We can present to him a gift of our time.

Please print the attached form and bring it with you this weekend January 6/7.  After the homily, I’ll ask you to bring this token of service to the Child Jesus.

In Christ,

Fr. Scott
