“Our faith is not an abstract doctrine or philosophy, but a vital and full relationship with a person: Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God who became man, was put to death, rose from the dead to save us, and is now living in our midst. Where can we encounter him? We encounter him in the Church, in our hierarchical, Holy Mother Church. It is the Church which says today: 'Behold the Lamb of God'; it is the Church, which proclaims him; it is in the Church that Jesus continues to accomplish his acts of grace which are the sacraments.”

Sacramental Preparation

For Children
For information about sacramental preparation for young people, contact Therese Tirador, Director of Religious Education, 202-286-9106.

For Adults
Interested in hearing more about the Catholic faith? Join our Journey in Faith. The weekly meetings will allow you to raise questions you might have about the Catholic tradition and the Catholic faith, as well as talk with people in the parish about the challenges and joys experienced in living it. Sessions focus on the teachings and experience of Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist during the Easter season. You are welcome to participate in the process with your questions, your insights and your faith story. Please contact Deacon Neal Conway, 301-938-2871.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Come, Holy Ghost, Creator blest,
And in our hearts take up thy rest;
Come with thy grace
and heavenly aid
To fill the hearts which thou has made.

-St. Hrabanus Maurus (9th century)
